The Supreme Court Got It Wrong Today
They’ve lost credibility. Taking away a nearly 50-year precedent and stripping women of their rights is taking partisan politics to a whole new level.
The very thought that our daughters will have fewer rights than we did at their age is completely disheartening. I am devastated.
Without Roe, millions of people across the country will lose access to lifesaving care, be forced to travel out of state, or risk dangerous procedures or prison time to get the care they need.
We have to fight back. We have to peacefully protest. And, most importantly, we have to show up at elections. We can’t sit back and watch any more. We know inaction is complicity and we know the majority of this country disagrees with this ruling.
In Michigan, abortion is still legal, but we need to win a majority this November to keep women safe. I’m fighting like hell to keep it that way. I’m fighting to repeal Michigan’s archaic, pre-Roe abortion ban, pass the Reproductive Health Act, and enshrine our rights to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom in our State Constitution.
Accepting this ruling is telling women, all over the country, that women don’t matter. They are incapable of making their own healthcare decisions. I won’t accept this now or when I’m in Lansing.
